Separate sections for US Healthcare and Retirement Services. You'll have to dig deep for
information. They do have Aetna Access Online which is for viewing and making changing to your
Aetna retirement account, which is a nice feature.

Very consumer oriented site. Offers an "Insurance 101" section, agent locator, job
listings, links to an auto research site, and more.

Allstate Insurance Company
Everything automotive including MSRP and Dealer Invoice on new automobiles, and Book Values on
used automobiles.

Auto-Owners
Very nice clean design. Job opportunities and history section. Decent product descriptions. No
agent lookup or interactive features.

AXA Group
Home page for French insurance giant. Site is in English or French. Nicely designed, but I found
the organization confusing. Second largest global insurance conglomerate.

Cincinnati Financial
Cincinnati Insurance is one of the stronger midwest regional co's. Operating in 27 states. Four
states represent over half of their premium volume: Ohio, Illinois, Indiana and Georgia. They are
also strong in: Kansas, Missouri, Wisconsin and Tennessee. Represented by 1,000 independent
insurance agencies.

CNA Insurance Companies
Newly redesigned. This version loads much more quickly than previous offering. Investor
information, product descriptions, etc available. Much easier to navigate now. Very extensive
pages on specialty commercial lines programs available.

Chubb Insurance
Very nicely designed site. Has all the usual info, plus a nice library of original articles from
Chubb on a variety of subjects.

Erie Insurance Group
Strong midwest/eastern regional. Founded in 1925 in Erie, PA. 4,000 licensed agents representing
more than 1,000 independent agencies in IN, MD, NC, NY, OH, PA, TN, VA, WV, DC. 1997 P&C
premiums of over 2 billion. Also been rated one of the 100 best companies to work for in the US.

Specialty insurer of professional and executive liability. Check out their publications section.

Farmers
Insurance Group
US's third-largest writer of private passenger auto and homeowners. Based in LA. Founded in 1928.
Site has a good consumer info section. Parent company, BAT Industries, recently announced a merger
with Zurich Group.

Fireman's Fund
Very nicely designed site and graphics. Good product descriptions, with a bonus of some safety
tips available for individual and business consumers.

GEICO
Direct marketer's home page. Many useful FAQ's. Consumer's can fill in an online form and submit
for a quote. Also has a neat feature where you can connect an internet phone call (via AT&T)
direct to a GEICO representative. Clean design, and, other than the graphic image on home page,
fast loading.

General Accident
Web site for the US operations of the global insurance giant. General Accident's world
headquarters are in Perth, Scotland. They are located in 44 countries including: Australia,
Brazil, Canada, Europe, South America, the U.S., United Kingdom, Bahrain, the Middle East, Africa,
the South Pacific and more.

Great American
Not a whole lot to like about this site. Very little information, confusing backgrounds, annoying
animations, and a lack of a consistent look and feel to the whole site. Here's hoping they see
this and do some thinking about redesign.

Recently updated with improved product information and an agency locator. A fine example of a
well-thought out company website.

Nationwide Insurance Company
Good consumer oriented coverage descriptions. Agent locator and claim reporting info are available
also.

New York Life
Excellent site. Very consumer oriented. They have a neat feature that allows a visitor to create a
"personal folder" of favorite NY Life web pages. Also handy, is a "Top 20"
list of the top requested pages at their site. In depth articles on a variety of financial
services issues of interest to the consumer, and an excellent collection of financial needs
calculators. Spend some time here.

Insurance Companies
One of the few companies on the Web to make live real-time policy information available to agents
and consumers. Also available are online quote requests, online payments, and some decent links.

SAFECO Insurance Companies
Heavy on graphics and frames, but worth a look anyway. Product information is available and takes
the unique twist of following a virtual family, the Andersons, through a description of all their
insurance needs. An agent locator and claims reporting info are also available.

State Auto
Columbus, OH based regional company. Founded in 1921. General lines carrier writing through 2,000
independent agencies in 23 states.

State Farm
A brand new look that is much improved over previous offerings. Offers the usual product and
claims information, but also includes a kid's site and a client only password protected section
that contains an auto information section, a link to download family information organizer
software, and a link to information on US colleges.

Another strong midwest regional. Founded in 1848. Licensed to write property and casualty
insurance in 45 states and life insurance in 47 states. Actively marketing in the following
states: Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, North
Dakota, Ohio, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Tennessee, West Virginia, Wisconsin.

Columbus, OH based regional company. Founded in 1921. General lines carrier writing through 2,000
independent agencies in 23 states.

Zurich-American
Global financial services giant, located in Zurich, Switzerland (where else?). This the web site
for their US operations. All the Zurich Group sites can be accessed from here. They recently
announced they were merging with BAT Industries financial services unit, which includes the US's
Farmers Insurance Group.
